Smokey quartz is said to transmute negative energy into positive energy, making it an excellent protection stone. It is also know as the grounding stone, used in helping you to move on from painful and difficult experiences, enabling the wearer to let go of the past.

Smokey quartz is a mineral that is commonly formed in igneous rocks (or volcanic rocks) as magma cools. It can also less commonly be found and formed in sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. The quartz crystals form inside rocks as silicon dioxide crystallises as it cools within the rock, just like other types of quartz, however, the smokey brown colour of smokey quartz comes from the crystal being exposed to natural irradiation (light).
