Ocean Jasper is also known as Orbicular Jasper or Cellular Jasper. It is a very rare form of jasper which is a variety of quartz, consisting of silicon dioxide. Ocean Jasper is usually characterised by different coloured circular orb-like patterns. Geologically, Ocean Jasper is a spherulitic variety of chalcedony (micro-crystallised quartz) with the different colours being produced by oxides, iron and other impurities, with quartz and feldspar forming the spherical structures.
