Larimar is a rare type of blue pectolite that can mainly be found in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Pectolite is usually white, but copper inclusions make the Larmiar stone a beautiful blue colour. It is formed from volcanic activity when minerals crystallise in volcanic cavities and with the presence of specific elements, such as calcium, sodium, and hydroxide, pectolite crystals are able to be formed. Over time, heat, pressure and geothermal activity can allow the inclusion of other elements and cause colour variations.
