Science:

Snowflake obsidian is a type of obsidian with white or grayish spot inclusions in the shape of snowflakes. These spots are called spherulites, which are composed of cristobalite - a type of quartz. Obsidian, also known as 'volcanic glass', is an igneous rock formed from volcanic lava. Obsidian is different to most other igneous rocks due to its glassy appearance, and the fact that it doesn't contain crystals. As the lava cools and hardens so rapidly after being released from the volcano, it has no time to form crystals.

Feng Shui:

In Feng Shui, the color black is connected to the water element, representing wisdom, depth, and fluidity. Water is also said to be connected to the career and social network in Feng Shui and if worn, can enhance these areas of your life. As black obsidian is said to bring protection, it can be placed near the front door of your house for overall protection of your home, as this is the place where people, energy and opportunities enter your life. It can also be placed in specific areas of your home to protect the parts of your life that each area represents. For example, in Feng Shui, the kitchen represents nourishment; so placing obsidian in your kitchen is said to protect your health and nutrition.
